As a 23-year-old, he single-handedly created restaurant Pastorale in Reet some thirty years ago, a place where fine dining, nature and art merge effortlessly. As if a star business wasn't enough to satisfy his entrepreneurial appetite, Bart threw himself into various other projects over the years.
Chef Bart De Pooter was named “Chef of the Year” by Gault&Millau in 2012 and scores 17/20 in this guide. In 2003 he obtained his first Michelin star, in 2006 came the second. In 2018, the restaurant received the Best Vegetables Restaurants Award.
His cuisine has authentic, deep flavours and fresh acidity with respect for the product A bit of avant-garde too. Technical, but not visible.
