Chef Jimmy Lim Tyan Yaw's culinary journey began in his childhood, growing up in Singapore, where he assisted in his father's hawker stall. This humble stall offered beloved Singaporean dishes like curry fish head, chili crab, and clay pot tofu, unknowingly sowing the seeds of his culinary passion. While his teenage years initially revolved around basketball, a debilitating knee injury altered his path. During his arduous recovery, he discovered his true calling in the kitchen.
Jimmy honed his craft by immersing himself in the world of culinary excellence. He traversed the kitchens of renowned establishments such as The French Laundry (Napa Valley), Per Se(New York) and Geranium(Copenhagen) , all of which contributed to his exceptional culinary prowess. However, at JL STUDIO, Chef Jimmy embarked on a different culinary expedition, one that celebrated Modern Singaporean Cuisine and aimed to showcase the diverse and exhilarating flavors of Singapore and Southeast Asia.

They achieved the highest accolade in the culinary world: the prestigious 3 Michelin Stars, as bestowed by the Michelin Guide. This historic achievement marked Chef Jimmy Lim as the first Singaporean Chef to attain this esteemed recognition. Additionally, JL STUDIO became the sole 3 Michelin Starred restaurant in the world dedicated to serving Singaporean Cuisine.
